Cary Elwes and Jake Busey will be joining the cast of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things for its third season.
According to Variety, Elwes will be playing Mayor Kline and Busey will be playing a character named Bruce in Stranger Things 3. Netflix is describing the Mayor Kline role as “handsome, slick and sleazy… your classic ’80s politician more concerned with his own image that the people of the small town he governs.” Ah, yes. We definitely know those 80s politician character and I think Elwes will play that part nicely. The character of Bruce is said to be a “journalist for the Hawkins Post with questions morals and a sick sense of humor.” Interesting.
Elwes is known in the horror world from Saw, but I best know him as Westley, or “Farm Boy” from The Princess Bride. Buesy is best known from Starship Troopers and Identity.
It was earlier announced that Maya Thurman-Hawke will also play an important new role in Stranger Things 3. “Hawke will play an ‘alternative girl’ bored with her mundane day job. She seeks excitement in her life and gets more than she bargained for when she uncovers a dark secret in Hawkins, Ind,” according to Netflix via Variety.
Fans can expect all your regular stars to return, including Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Joe Keery, Noah Schnapp, Winona Ryder and David Harbour. We will also see more of season 2 newbies Sadie Sink and Dacre Montgomery. And for the best news of all, scene-stealer Priah Ferguson (Lucas’ sister Erica) will have a much larger part and will have her own group of friends to deal with the strange things happening around Hawkins.
Stranger Things Season 3 is definitely shaping up to be the best one yet. I cannot wait for it to get here. The release date for the new season has yet to be released.
